it’s nice to think that people who are good at what they do are also all good (subjective term, but you get the gist of it) people, and vice versa, but a vast majority of the time that is simply not the case. you could be the nicest person in the world and have all the right opinions about everything and be absolute shit at what you do. alternatively, you could be the most despicable person that ever lived and amazing at your job (and of course, there’s a whole range of shitty to great in between). that’s ok. those are the facts of the matter, after all, and hard to change either way. just—don’t conflate the two, because they are not the same thing. at all.
